Pros And Cons Of Different Kinds Of Tyres

Tyres are the only connection between your vehicle and the road on which the vehicle is running. Thus, it is of utmost importance that you use the tyres according to the demand of weather, road conditions, your vehicle, etc.

There are mainly three kinds of tyres that people prefer for their vehicles. They are winter tyres, summer tyres and all-season tyres. As the name suggests, winter tyres are used in conditions when the temperature is below 7° Celsius.

Summer tyres are used during hot weather conditions, while all-season tyres can be used in moderate weather conditions. There are advantages and disadvantages of all these three kinds of tyres.

Winter Tyres

Pros

  • Winter tyres Birmingham are helpful while applying brakes on slippery roads. They provide good terrain on icy and snowy surfaces. This helps in applying brakes in an emergency while driving.
  • Winter tyres help in reducing the wear and tear of the tyre if used efficiently in the venture season.
  • In countries, where the temperature falls below 7° C in the winter season, winter tyres provide optimal grip on slippery and Icy roads.
  • Winter tyres help in maintaining fuel efficiency in the winter season. If we use winter tyres it gives less load on the vehicle thus, the fuel consumption lowers.

Cons

  • Winter tyres do not come with the vehicle. They are to be bought according to the weather conditions in your country. Thus, winter tyres cost higher than standard tyres and they also require extra fees for fitting.
  • While below 7° Celsius winter tyres prove to be helpful in maintaining an efficient fuel economy, on the other hand, if the temperature rises above 7° celsius, winter tyres cause fuel over-consumption by the vehicle.
  • Winter tyres can be used in winter seasons only. They cause many disadvantages if used in other seasons. That is why we have to keep spare all-season tyres to use in other seasons.
  • When winter tyres are not in use, their parts are to be kept in separate airtight packets vertically. They have to be preserved at a lower temperature which generates storage cost.

Summer Tyres

Pros

  • In the summer season, especially from the months where heat is at its peak point, summer tyres prove to be the best use.
  • Summer tyres provide a good grip on wet as well as dry conditioned roads.
  • In the summer season, summer tyres prove to be efficient in fuel consumption. Thus, they result in less expenditure on fuel.

Cons

  • If you use summer tyres in weather conditions where the temperature falls below 7° C, they will not prove effective. It can be dangerous to drive a vehicle with summer tyres in such weather conditions.
  • Summer tyres use synthetic rubber in them which tends to get harder with the temperature falling and get softer with temperature increasing.
  • To avoid wearing of summer tyres, when not in use, they are also kept in a proper storage facility, raising the storage cost.

All-Season Tyres

Pros

  • The best advantage of using these tyres is that they are economic and their price is stable for every season.
  • If you live in countries where the temperature in different seasons does not go beyond extreme levels, you can go for all-season tyres as they are the best compromise between winter and summer tyres.

Cons

  • All-season car tyres Coventry cannot be used in countries where the weather conditions go at extreme levels.
  • Neither too much icy or snowy roads nor dry roads are suitable for all-season tyres.
  • As compared to summer and winter tyres all-season tyres prove to be less efficient for fuel consumption.
  • They are more expensive than winter and summer tyres.
  • The rate of wear and tear of all-season tyres is more than summer and winter tyres.
